** Pre-order for January 2025 dispatch. Unfortunately, I am fully booked for Christmas commissions.**

If you're looking for a custom piece of art for your home or to give to someone special, perhaps as an anniversary gift, a house warming present, or a gift for a big birthday, this is just the thing!

Most of my commissions have been gifts for significant others, parents or neighbours in the past, but people equally commission me for themselves. A painting of a first home or a forever home is something lovely and sentimental to have up on the wall.

If this is something you need in time for Christmas and the festive season, please buy early to avoid disappointment. I work as fast as I can but can only paint a limited number of house portraits and October, November and December get very busy very quickly.

Commission a watercolour house portrait

Choose any building of meaning - it could be your first home, your current house, your forever home, the house of someone you love dearly who you visited often in childhood... really, the sky is the limit. A place that brings you joy that you would love to look at, framed in your home - this is a tangible memory of your favourite place!

I love to include flowers, plants and trees around the home, as they add texture as well as colour.

I illustrate using pencil, black ink and watercolour. Each custom house portrait is first sketched out in pencil, then hand-painted on 300gsm watercolour paper with Winsor & Newton watercolour paint and finished with black ink lines.

You can see examples of the watercolour house portraits I paint, and your custom painting will be in the same style as those in the photographs.

You will receive your unique painting unframed, beautifully wrapped in tissue paper ready to give as a gift or as a special treat for yourself.

Gift wrap can be added at checkout if you’d like to upgrade, making this ready to unwrap by the recipient.

How to order your watercolour house portrait.

If your commission is time sensitive, please get in touch before ordering to make sure I can meet your deadline. October-December is a busy time and lead times are longer than the usual 1-2 weeks. I’ll always try to work to deadlines you have but do check beforehand!

1. Add this to your cart, and choose which size you’d like, and whether to add on some hand lettered writing. This can be anything from the dates you lived there, the address, your name, a quote or Bible verse that fits with the painting.

2. Once you have chosen all your preferences and purchased your painting, simply send a high-quality picture in colour of the house you would like painted via email to hello@andhopedesigns.com

3. If there is small detail in your image, close up pictures would be great to send too! Whether the artwork is landscape or portrait will depend on what best fits the image you send unless you have specified a preference via message.

Consider also what season you would like your house painted in. The images show paintings of homes painted during winter with snow on both the house and the surrounding trees, one in autumn with a bright orange tree, and most in spring or summer. Do feel free to ask me to include flowers on trees and bushes that are are not in bloom on the photograph - I love to include colour and show a home at its very best!

Postage & packaging

All orders will be sent Royal Mail tracked post, wrapped with tissue paper and shipped in a cardboard backed envelope (with extra cardboard for larger pictures) inside an A4 letterbox box to prevent your painting being accidentally bent in transit. This combination of wrapping is all eco friendly and recyclable, and works well to keep your piece of art in perfect condition while it journeys to you. Postage and packaging is included.

If you are purchasing this as a gift and would like me to send it directly to the recipient, you can add on gift wrap at check out. Please also remember to use the recipient’s address for delivery.

Unfortunately due to the custom nature of this artwork I will be unable to accept returns and refunds.

If you have any questions please contact me before you order, I’d love to help.

Shipping & Returns

All commissions are posted with Royal Mail Tracked post to ensure they arrive safely with you and are fully insured on their journey.

International shipping is calculated by weight of items and orders are posted with Royal Mail international tracked shipping.

Returns of personalised and commissioned items are not accepted. If you have an issue with your order, please get in touch by email hello@andhopedesigns.com and I will do my best to help resolve the problem.

Efficient service, beautiful painting

Anna was very quick to respond on placing my order to confirm that all was in hand. The painting itself was done quickly (as quickly as you would expect a painting in a queue to be done!) and the end result is really lovely. Thank you!

Good painting made to order

And Hope Designs did a brilliant job on a tricky order. They combined two separate pictures of my wife's father's pub with a great outcome. Very responsive and the picture arrived about 3 weeks after ordering so quite quick for being hand painted.

Watercolour house commission

I ordered a watercolour house commission from Anna as a gift for my mother-in-law. The house had a beautiful garden back in the day. Anna was so helpful with trying to recreate the original garden and she made it so easy to communicate this. The painting turned out wonderful. I have yet to show it to my MIL as it's a Christmas present but I think she will love it. Thanks Anna!
